Street Art in Venice

streetart-venice-01

Venice is more than the traditional sunset travel images show. It is a place to live, with all aspects you will find in other cities all around the world, too.
After two weeks of (crazy) carnival in town I decided not to concentrate on traditional Venice too much for a few days but be more open-minded for some details aside – like graffiti or other street art. Every few steps you find lousy ones, of course, but with eyes open you can also bump into great masterpieces of art in the alleys out there!

From time to time I had discovered some graffiti and stickers before, as can be seen in my Venice Daily gallery on this blog. But once you focus, more and more of these beautiful masterpieces show up – even in places I had met several times before without taking notice of those artsy footprints. Therefore: try to change your photographic focus from time to time.

Is historic Venice a good place for modern street art? It is a nice contrast to the hundreds of years old structure in town for sure. And isn’t it nice to have a well done piece of art make you smile or think for a minute?

One exception: on facades of buildings personally I’d prefer stickers (self removing over time) over sprayed graffiti.
